Teaching Artist - Florida Studio Theatre, a LORT D Equity regional Theatre in Sarasota, FL is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Teaching Artist. This individual will lead instruction of students in pre-K through grade 12
Teaching Artist duties include: Planning with Florida Studio Theatre staff and providing arts instruction in all aspects of FST programs, including but not limited to: In-school programming, community events, after school classes and productions.
Other responsibilities include attending ongoing professional development, carrying out administrative responsibilities (such as submission of classroom reports, time-sheets, etc.), meeting with FST staff, and performing other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications include:
o Bachelor’s degree in theatre performance or related field (or equivalent experience)
o Professional experiences in a performing art form
o Experience teaching in community-based settings, arts organizations, and schools
o Experience teaching children of varying ages and backgrounds, including those with disabilities and English as a second language
o Willingness to learn the required curriculum, lesson plans, and classroom management skills that directly reflect the Florida Studio Theatre method.
o Ability to create safe, inclusive, supportive, and creative environments for all students
o Strong oral and written communication skills
o Must provide own vehicle for transportation
