Technical Director
Primary Responsibilities
The Technical Director is a motivated and creative individual who can work both independently, as well as a collaborator as projects dictate with at least 1 year of experience in production. Reporting directly to the artistic director, the technical director takes the lead in scenic construction and oversees other designers and technicians in the creation and implementation of all other aspects of production. The technical director oversees the day-to- day operation of production, as well as managing budget and schedule.
Job Description
Execute and oversee the timely production, load in, function and strike of all scenic elements required for the main stage season.
Collaborate with Scenic Designer, Artistic Director and Production Stage Manager to ensure best practices in execution of scenic elements to the standards of the company.
Oversee scenic staff and shop in all daily operations.
Maintain company equipment and workspaces and report status issues to company leadership.
Maintain budgets and operations as directed by Artistic Director.
Attend staff and production meetings as scheduled. .
Implement the Shop and Theatre Safety Plan.
Other duties as assigned by company leadership necessary for maintaining the integrity of the season.
Performs all other duties and/or activities as deemed necessary for the effective operation of the organization as assigned by the Artistic Director.
Qualifications
A minimum of two years' experience in scenery construction, rigging systems, shop supervision and administration.
Additional experience managing projects and budgeting.
Class C Driver's License.
Competence in stage operations, stage maintenance, rigging, and machinery.
Familiarity with stage lighting and stage audio equipment.
Competence with CAD packages and other pertinent applications.
Troubleshooting skills.
Competence in the range of managerial functions required in the technical operations of a theatre.
Competence in oral and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will be a positive leader and be able to work calmly in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:

Salary Rate: $700 - $800 per week plus housing and meals
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Work Experience: Experience in professional or collegiate Technical Directing.
Qualifications/skills: Collegiate or professional skills with shop tools, set design and understanding, scissor lifts and cherry pickers, including all basic and advanced tools and construction knowledge.
Physical Ability: Must be able to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, regularly squat and maintain position while assembling projects, regularly crawl and kneel while assembling projects, regularly reach above shoulders to assemble overhead projects, regularly climb and work from ladders and personnel lifts, occasionally climb vertical ladders, stand and walk for up to 8 hours.
Other Skills, Ability and/or Knowledge: Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to obtain and explain information. Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive a cargo van. The ability to self-manage a workload in order to meet deadlines. The ability to create a positive working relationship with designers, staff and other departments, even in stressful situations.
Special Requirements: Lead all strikes, load-ins and show specific needs as well as setting up/ breaking down sets for TLP events outside of the theatre. i.e. outside concerts
