ANNA LEONOWENS (Female Identified, 30-40, Caucasian/Anglo-Indian, Soprano): A young widow from Wales who has agreed to a position teaching in the royal palace of the King of Siam. She is strong-willed, forward thinking, and challenges the King's views and ways of ruling.
LOUIS LEONOWENS (Male Identified, 10-14, Caucasian, Alto boy) Anna's son. Curious, polite, and sincerely respectful of those around him. If auditioning for LOUIS, prepare the Prince's track in addition to LOUIS'S track.
KING OF SIAM (Male Identified, 35-50, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Baritone): The ruler of Siam who has progressive ideas for his country but struggles with his desire to uphold Siamese traditions.
LADY THIANG (Female Identified, 30-50, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Soprano): The King of Siam's head wife and mother to the Crown Prince Chulalongkorn. She is wise and patient and understands the complexities of the King's nature.
PRINCE CHULALONGKORN (Male Identified, 10-15, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Alto boy): Lady Thiang and the King's opinionated and strong-willed son. Heir to the throne.
THE KRALAHOME (Male Identified, 40-60, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Non-Singing Role): The Prime Minister of Siam. The King's most trusted and powerful advisor. If auditioning for THE KRALAHOME, submit one minute monologue in the style of the show.
LUN THA (Male Identified, 18-28, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Tenor/high baritone): A young man from Burma who is studying the King's temple and is secretly in a relationship with Tuptim.
TUPTIM (Female Identified, 18-28, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Soprano): A young woman from Burma who is presented to the King as a gift from the Prince of Burma. She is in Love with Lun Tha.
CAPTAIN ORTON/SIR EDWARD RAMSAY (Male Identified, 40-50, Caucasian, Non-singing Role): Captain - British Captain of the Chow Phya, the ship that takes Anna and Louis from Singapore to Bangkok. Sir Edward - British diplomat who Anna was romantically involved with in the past. He is an important player in the diplomatic game for friendship in Siam, and the King must win him over.
