BREAKDOWN

THE PERFECT MATE
SYNOPSIS:
The year is 2063 and love is about to get an upgrade. The Eden Corporation has devised a revolutionary new AI - the PERFECTMATE - a romantic partner, human in every way, custom designed with all the features one chooses. Joan Sweete is plucked to be the prototype tester, and the show follows her funny and poignant journey to find an ideal partner in a near-future world.

SEEKING:
JOAN SWEETE (late 20s to 40s) - a schoolteacher (which is a lucrative, high-stature position in the future). Joan is vulnerable but optimistic. A little lost in the world but determined to find her way. She has always been drawn to the idea of true love with one person and yet she feels the pressure not to settle for anything less than perfection. When she is given the oppurtinity to try out the PERFECTMATE, she is both curious and wary of dating a machine. Pop soprano, high mix/belt

SUSAN BOTELLI (30s to 70s) - A hyper-intelligent business guru, inventor and businesswoman who built her company from the ground up. Dedicated to her work, she is the Steve Jobs of the Eden Corporation, the company that has created PERFECTMATE. Susan is hyper-focused, charismatic, nononsense. Alto belter

PERFECT MATE (late 20s to 40s) - Versatile, comedic, with honesty, charisma and confidence. All three of the PERFECTMATE models will be played by the same actor. The first is sensitive, kind, and intent on making JOAN happy. The second is rougher around the edges, hyper-sexual, and more direct. The third is a frantic hybrid of the first two but with an inner sweetness and vulnerability. Rock tenor

MAN (20s to 50s) - male presenting. Sings well and can bring color and depth to a number of different roles, including a desperate single, a humanoid cleaning bot, and Joan's street-smart building superintendent. Tenor

WOMAN (20s to 50s) - Female presenting. Sings well and can bring color and depth to a number of different roles, including Joan’s trendy, sharp, outspoken sister, MOYA. Soprano
