Theatre Design Teacher/Technical Director

The Upper and Middle Division Theatre, Dance & Film Studies Department is seeking a dedicated, talented and collaborative Design Teacher/Technical Director (TD). The position will involve teaching Middle Division introductory level courses in Theatre Arts and stagecraft, and more advanced Upper Division courses in theatre design and production. Duties include stage crew supervision during and after school, and occasionally on weekends. The TD will also oversee the stage crew during all UD/MD Horace Mann productions.
The candidate should demonstrate a passion for classroom teaching, and mentoring student designers to work toward the development of complete design packages in the areas of set, lighting, and costume design. The TD is the liaison between theatre faculty and student designers. As well as maintaining and purchasing all tools and materials used in the scene shop, the TD is responsible for the theatrical operations of the performance spaces which include the Gross Theatre, the Black Box Theatre, the Cooper Dance Studio and the Sanders Recital Hall.A Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Design/Production or a related field is required. An advanced degree in design or education is a plus.
