Highlights From The Last Smoker in America Off-Broadway

A Tony nominee for Side Show, Bill Russell (book and lyrics) brings his new comic musical The Last Smoker in America, with music by Peter Melnick, to Off-Broadway's Westside Theatre. In a future where smoking has been outlawed, Pam (Farah Alvin) is trying desperately to kick the habit while living in fear of her neighbor Phyllis (Natalie Venetia Belcon), an anti-smoking zealot. Adding to Pam's complications are her out-of-touch husband Ernie (John Bolton) and son Jimmy (Jake Boyd), who take refuge from the world in their private musical fantasies. The production is directed by Andy Sandberg and features choreography by A.C. Ciulla. Opening night is Aug. 2. For a first-look photo gallery of the show, click here.
