The Neil Simon Theatre — current home to the hit musical Hairspray — will house the annual competition, which follows six weeks of intensive fundraising by various shows on and off Broadway as well as touring productions throughout the country. It's a chance to celebrate the Broadway gypsies while raising funds for the worthy charity. Awards are presented in two categories: for best skit and for most money raised for BC/EFA. Last season, the competition raised a whopping $2,754,631. Best skit honors went to The Liong King with Wicked as first runner-up. The latter also raised the most money for BC/EFA, $365,918. Other front-runners: Avenue Q ($154,208), Mamma Mia! ($154,032), The Phantom of the Opera ($151,124), The Lion King ($150,822) and Rent ($144,179).
