The Oct. 1-2 performances, which will transform Royal Albert Hall to conjure Maria Björnson's original stage designs, will be directed by Laurence Connor and feature choreography and musical staging by Gillian Lynne. The event celebrates the 25th anniversary of the musical's London premiere and promises a cast and orchestra of over 200 individuals and special guests.
The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall will be screened live in 250 cinemas across the U.K. and in over 500 theatres in North America on Oct. 2. Additional U.S. screenings are planned for Oct. 5 and 6, as well as an Oct. 11 encore.
The event will also be screened in Canada (Oct. 3 and 22), Sydney Australia (Oct. 8, and Oct. 13-23).
The special presentation of Phantom will also be released Nov. 14 on DVD, Blu-ray, CD and digital download. It will be released in Australia and New Zealand Dec. 8. A 4 CD and DVD Collectors' box set is also planned.
Karimloo and Boggess originated the roles of Phantom and Christine in Lloyd Webber's Phantom sequel Love Never Dies in London in 2010. Karimloo is a veteran of the London Phantom, while Boggess opened the 2006 Las Vegas production.
The cast will also feature Barry James as Monsieur Firman, Gareth Snook as Monsieur André, Liz Robertson as Madame Giry and Wynne Evans as Piangi. Cameron Mackintosh produces the special three-concert event.
As previously reported, Lloyd Webber will film the Melbourne production of Love Never Dies Sept. 12-15 for future DVD release.
