The Brooklyn Academy of Music will host America 2024: Playwrights on Our Country’s Future on April 22, an evening featuring readings of new dramatic works by playwrights Jackie Sibblies Drury, Adam Rapp, and Celine Song. Presented by the New York Times' T Magazine, the readings will be followed by a discussion with the writers moderated by NYT editor Kurt Soller.
In America 2024, playwrights Drury (Marys Seacole) , Rapp (Nocturne), and Song (Endlings) will look five years into America's future in three new commissioned plays. Their works range from the utopian to the dystopian, from the fantastical to the very real.
America 2024 will take place in BAM's Fisherman Space theatre, located at 321 Ashland Place. Tickets are $25, and the event kicks off at 7 PM.
Drury's play Marys Seacole is currently playing Off-Broadway at LCT3, and Song's Endlings is currently receiving its world premiere at A.R.T in Boston. Check out photos from both productions below.
