News 3D Version of Lord of the Dance Headed to the Silver Screen in 2011 Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, the international dancing sensation whose story is based on Irish folklore, is headed to the silver screen.

Variety reports that creator and original star Flatley heads the cast of the 3D motion picture, which was filmed last month in Dublin and London. The film is scheduled for release on March 17, 2011.

Marcus Viner directs "Lord of the Dance in 3D," which is being produced by Nineteen Fifteen Productions in association with ITN Productions.

The plot of the film, like the show, "centers on the title character's fight to protect his people from an evil lord," according to the industry paper.

Lord of the Dance, which currently has productions in Europe and the United States, has been seen by 60 million people.
