Patriotic theatre-lovers take note: Added to the sound of exploding M-80s and cherrybombs in this year's MACY's Fourth of July Fireworks special will be the rat-tat-tapping of dancing feet. Part of the 9-10 PM (EST) July 4 NBC broadcast will be the "We're in the Money" sequence from the current Broadway revival of 42nd Street. Though that's the only showtune in the show (the other performers are Jon Bon Jovi and Jessica Simpson), other theatre folk are taking part, according to MACY's spokesperson Orlando Veras (reached July 3). Harry Connick, Jr., currently penning the score to the Susan Stroman-directed Thou Shalt Not, will host the TV event. Commentators will include "Frasier"'s Kelsey Grammar (Macbeth), Martin Sheen, Gary Sinise (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Angela Basset (Macbeth at NYSF) and "Ed"'s Julie Bowen.
Musicals are traditionally featured on the Macy's Fireworks show with Footloose and Titanic (filmed on Ellis Island) making appearances in years past.
As for the fireworks, those can be viewed on the East Side of Manhattan from 14th Street to 42nd Street.
