News   54 Below to Offer Sneak Peek of Broadway-Bound Musical One For My Baby
54 Below will present a one-night-only abridged version of the Broadway-bound musical One For My Baby, featuring the music of Harold Arlen and starring Tony nominees Vivian Reed (Bubbling Brown Sugar) and Daniel Jenkins (Big River).

The April 30 show is directed and choreographed by Scott Thompson with music direction by Fred Barton.

Other performers slated for the evening show include Luba Mason, Kevin Earley, Anneliese Van Der Pol, Julie Tolivar, Danny Gardner, T. Oliver Reed, Carly Hughes and Tari Kelly. The ensemble includes Barrett Davis, Michael Roberts McKee, Mikki Sodergren and Sydney Ruf-Wong.

Set to an Arlen score, One For My Baby features some of the celebrated composer's greatest hits, including "Stormy Weather," "The Man That Got Away," "Blues in the Night," "Get Happy" and "I've Got the World on a String." The book is written by Thompson and Barton, exploring a story set in New York in 1947, centered on Panama Jones, "Queen Diva of the sexiest nightclub in town urging the patrons to smoke a little, drink a lot and dance till dawn!"

"A full Harold Arlen score has not been heard on Broadway since 1959's Saratoga," said Sam Arlen, the composer's son, in an earlier statement. "What Scott and Fred have created would give his music a long overdue representation on the Broadway stage after over half a century." The new musical received an industry workshop presentation in New York in 2012.
