Bernstein On Broadway, with New York Philharmonic
New York Philharmonic’s annual New Year’s Eve concert is a NYC tradition. This year’s concert is celebrating the Broadway career of one of the Philharmonic’s former conductors, Leonard Bernstein, with a concert that also marks the beginnings of Bernstein’s centennial year. Selections from On the Town, West Side Story, and Wonderful Town will be sung by such Broadway stars as Sunday in the Park with George’s Annaleigh Ashford, Hamilton’s Christopher Jackson, Cinderella’s Laura Osnes, and Next to Normal’s Aaron Tveit.

Tickets are available at LincolnCenter.org, but this one is available to those outside New York as well; PBS will broadcast the concert live on TV! Check your local listings at PBS.org.

New York City

The King’s Winter Masquerade at The McKittrick Hotel, 10:15PM
Immersive theatre spectacle Sleep No More has been going strong at Manhattan’s McKittrick Hotel since 2011, inviting theatregoers to experience an updated take on Shakespeare’s Macbeth by wandering around various spaces in the hotel. Following the New Year’s Eve performance of Sleep No More, the space will be transformed into a royally decadent world, with a decadent dinner feast, dancing, specially-created-one-night-only performances, an open bar, boundless live entertainment, and McKittrick-inspired surprises throughout the hotel. Guests are advised to come attired in costume fit for a king, preferably in shades of gold, silver, and black.

Lee Roy Reams and Caissie Levy at Feinstein’s/54 Below, 7 and 11PM
Feinstein’s/54 Below, one of New York City’s preeminent cabaret venues, celebrates New Year’s Eve with a pair of performances from two Broadway favorites. Lee Roy Reams, a veteran of such Broadway shows as Hello, Dolly!, Applause, La Cage aux Folles, and The Producers, starts the evening off with a 7PM show of song, dance, and theatrical dish. Caissie Levy, soon to be letting it go on Broadway as Elsa in Disney’s Frozen, hits the stage at 11PM where she’ll sing highlights from her career, including shows like Hair, Ghost, Rent, Wicked, and Les Misérables. Tickets for Levy’s show include a two-course dinner and dessert buffet, and an open bar. A dance party follows after midnight!

Judy Collins at New Year’s Eve Concert for Peace, 7PM
Held at The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine on the Upper West Side, the New Year’s Eve Concert for Peace has been held annually since Leonard Bernstein founded the NYC tradition in 1984. Music, candles, and a spirit of peace have been moving audiences at this concert for more than a quarter of a century. Harry Smith hosts this year’s event, which features Cathedral Artist in Residence Judy Collins, the noted folk singer who made Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns” a radio hit.

Ticketed seating is available at StJohnDivine.org, and a limited number of free general admission seats will be available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

See a Broadway Show
There’s nothing more Broadway than, well... Broadway! With New York’s theatre district so close to the craziness of Times Square, no shows perform the night of New Year’s Eve, but you can catch a 3PM matinee of Once On This Island. You can also go to New Year's day performances of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chicago, M. Butterfly, Miss Saigon,The Phantom of the Opera, The Play That Goes Wrong, School of Rock, and Waitress.

Las Vegas, Nevada

An Intimate Evening with Kristin Chenoweth at The Smith Center, 7:30PM
This Tony- and Emmy-winning star of such Broadway shows as Wicked, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and On the Twentieth Century returns to Las Vegas’ Smith Center stage by popular demand. Chenoweth will offer an evening of standards, popular classics, Broadway tunes, and more to celebrate the New Year, backed by her five-piece band.

I Put a Spell On You: Morgan James with the Cincinnati Pops, 8PM
Jazz vocalist and Broadway performer Morgan James will ring in New Year’s Eve with the Cincinnati Pops by offering a sophisticated evening of cocktails and enchanting music. Her set list includes songs by Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, Bob Merrily, and many other theatre composers.

The Midtown Men at Del Lago Resort & Casino, 8PM
The Midtown Men, made up of stars from the original cast of Broadway’s Jersey Boys (including Tony Award winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard, and Tony nominee J. Robert Spencer), bring their signature sound and chemistry to Del Lago Resort & Casino to launch the New Year with some of their favorite 1960s hits.
