David Cale and Mary Faber play the title roles at PH's Mainstage on West 42nd Street. Performances continue to Dec. 17.
Faber was the recent Kate Monster and Lucy T. Slut in Broadway's Avenue Q. Cale is an Obie Award-winning actor. He co-wrote this two-actor musical with composer and jazz guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg.
Opening is Dec. 5.
"It's a freewheeling musical journey from Montana to Austin (with a side trip to Hollywood) when a burnt out former Country & Western star (Cale) joins forces with a 20-year-old free spirit with an electrifying voice (Faber)," according to Playwrights Horizons. "Their meeting and unlikely friendship, and the musical partnership that arises from it, form a tale of sweet heartbreak — a parable about finding the strength, against all odds, to keep on keepin' on."
Floyd and Clea has book and lyrics by two-time Obie Award winner Cale (of the recent The Threepenny Opera on Broadway, and author/actor of Lillian at Playwrights Horizons) and music by Cale and Kreisberg. The work is directed by Lortel Award winner (and Helen Hayes Award winner) Joe Calarco, known for Shakespeare's R&J.
The production features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Anne Kennedy, lighting design by Tony Award winner Chris Lee, sound design by Ken Travis and music direction and orchestrations by Jonathan Kreisberg. Production stage manager is Emily Wells.
The performance schedule for Floyd and Clea Under the Western Sky will be Tuesdays through Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 2:30 & 8 PM and Sundays at 2:30 & 7:30 PM. Tickets are $65.
There will be no performance on Nov. 23 and an added performance on Nov. 20 at 8 PM.

Cale previously appeared at Playwrights Horizons in his solo show, Lillian, for which he received an Obie Award. His other solos include A Likely Story, Deep in a Dream of You (Bessie Award), Smooch Music, and The Redthroats (Bessie Award). His monologues have been featured on NPR's "This American Life," "The Next Big Thing" and the HBO Special, Bette Midler's "The Mondo Beyondo Show." He is the author of the plays Betwixt and Nightwear.
Mary Faber made her Broadway debut as Kate Monster and Lucy T. Slut in Avenue Q. Off-Broadway she appeared in Slut (ATA), Junie B. Jones (Lucille Lortel) and The Tutor (York Theatre), as well as in concerts of Hair and Chess for The Actors' Fund. Her regional work includes Princesses (Fifth Avenue Theatre, Goodspeed Opera House), Feeling Electric (Village Theatre) and A Christmas Carol (Virginia Stage Co.).
Floyd and Clea Under the Western Sky was previously seen at Hartford Stage and The Goodman Theatre.

Pay What You Can Night is Nov. 10 at 8 PM. These tickets are offered through a lottery system. Names will be taken at the Ticket Central box office (416 West 42nd Street) in person on the day of the performance between 2 PM and 7 PM. A drawing will take place at 7 PM. Participants must be present with ID at the time names are drawn in order to be eligible for the lottery. Two tickets per person, cash-only, subject to availability, $5 per ticket suggested donation.
