Video A Doll’s House, Part 2’s Laurie Metcalf Explains Her ‘Clown Car’ Vision for Arriving at the Tony Awards The stage and screen favorite and each of her co-stars are Tony-nominated for the new play.

The entire cast of A Doll’s House, Part 2 will roll up to the 71st Tony Awards June 11 as nominees, and Laurie Metcalf has a very specific vision of how she and her co-stars should arrive at Radio City Music Hall.

“I think we all want to get in a car together,” the Tony nominee, who plays the updated take on Nora Helmer in the new play, said during her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “There’s only four of us in the show, so us and our dates roll up in some stretch limo and have the whole cast pour out—like a clown car!”

The cast—comprising Metcalf and her fellow nominees Chris Cooper, Jayne Houdyshell, and Condola Rashad—are no strangers to properly celebrating good news. Following the first performance after Tony nominations were announced, the four had a congratulatory toast backstage with playwright Lucas Hnath and director Sam Gold.
