Peter Mercurio's new play Two Spoons will get a free public reading in Greenwich Village Jan. 8, 2007, prior to its world premiere in Florida.

Chuck Blasius will direct the work, featuring Kurt Bauccio, Melanie Bean, Robert Gomes, Adam Loboto, Steven Sanders and Bethany B. Williams.

The play will premiere in April 2007 at the Suncoast Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL. The independent Manhattan reading will be 7 PM Jan. 8 at Bank Street Theatre, 155 Bank St. between Washington St. and the West Side Highway.

In Two Spoons, "Steve and Larry, a couple with a three-year-old son, are on the cusp of getting married until a weekend getaway in the City of Brotherly Love provides them with a respite they may never forget."

Mercurio's plays Andrew Reaches the Other Side, Red & Tan Line and Yesterday's News have been presented at Off-Off-Broadway's Bank Street. The plaintive plays of the New Jersey writer, now a New Yorker, focus on relationships between friends, lovers and family members.
