News Act One's Tony Shalhoub Will Recur On "Nurse Jackie" Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Tony Shalhoub (Act One) will join Emmy-winning actress Edie Falco (The House of Blue Leaves) as a series regular on the seventh season of Showtime's "Nurse Jackie," the network announced Aug. 20.

"Nurse Jackie" is Showtime's comedy about a flawed emergency room nurse, played by Falco.

Shalhoub will star in a recurring role as Dr. Bernard Prince, who according to press notes, is "a new ER doctor who has a great bedside manner, [has] a special touch with his boss, Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith), and who offers Jackie something she desperately needs – a friend."

The series boasts a stage veteran cast including Falco, Merritt Weaver, a Callaway Award winner for Uncle Vanya at Soho Rep, as well as longtime stage legend Deavere Smith, among others.

Shalhoub is best known to audiences as Adrian Monk, from the long-running series "Monk." Shalhoub also boasts several Broadway credits in addition to the recently acclaimed Act One at Lincoln Center, including Tony Award nominations for Golden Boy, Lend Me a Tenor, Conversations with My Father, The Heidi Chronicles and The Odd Couple on the Great White Way.

"Nurse Jackie" is a co-production between Showtime and Lionsgate.
