News Acting Company to Honor Schoenfeld and Lansbury; Peters to Perform Shubert Organization Board Chairman Gerald Schoenfeld and veteran producer Edgar Lansbury will be honored by The Acting Company Nov. 12 at Cipriani Wall Street.

Schoenfeld will receive the Joan Warburg Award for his "humanitarian work for the nonprofit arts." The award, which has previously been presented to Harry Belafonte, Martin E. Segal, Thomas Kean and Phyllis Newman, is given for "outstanding philanthropic endeavor." Two-time Tony Award Bernadette Peters, whose numerous Broadway credits include Gypsy, Song & Dance, Annie Get Your Gun, Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods, Mack and Mabel and The Goodbye Girl, will be on hand to pay tribute to Schoenfeld in song.

Lansbury — who spent 30 years as the Acting Company's Board Chairman — will be presented with the John Houseman Award, which honors the producer's "commitment to the development of classical actors and a national audience for the theatre." Previous recipients of the Houseman Award include Joseph Papp, Hal Prince, James Earl Jones, Marian Seldes, Julie Harris and Jack O'Brien.

The upcoming evening, which begins at 6:30 PM with cocktails and a silent auction, will also feature performances by IMAGO (former members of Cirque du Soleil), Vince Giordano and His Nighthawks and gender illusionists, stilt walkers, tattoo artists and magicians. Proceeds from the one-night-only event will benefit the Acting Company's Literacy Through Theater education programs for students in disadvantaged schools.

The Acting Company, America's foremost touring repertory theatre and arts education program, was honored in 2003 with the Tony for Excellence in Theater.
