Off-Broadway's long-running musical revue Naked Boys Singing! will get the big-screen treatment thanks to Funny Boy Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 16-song show — which still runs in New York (currently at New World Stages) — has been adapted for the screen and is being directed by original stage director Robert Schrock.

Kirkland Tibbels ("The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me") is producing the film, which is currently filming in Los Angeles at the Hayworth Theatre. Troy Christian handles digital video direction and choreography.

Original L.A. cast member Vincent Zamora is featured in an ensemble that also includes Andrew Blake Ames, Jason Currie, James Hodges, Joseph Keane, Anthony Manough, Joe Souza, Kevin Stea, Phong Truong and Salvatore Vassallo.

New arrangements will be heard of the original songs for the film. The feature will also contain a behind-the-scenes documentary which may be released as a separate DVD or as a bonus DVD feature.

The musical comedy revue opened at the Actor's Playhouse in New York July 22, 1999, after a successful run at the Celebration Theatre in Los Angeles. (The New York run has since been moved to Theatre 4, The John Houseman Theater, the 47th Street Theatre and the Julia Miles Theatre.) The show's contributing writers include Stephen Bates, Marie Cain, Perry Hart, Shelly Markham, Jim Morgan, David Pevsner, Rayme Sciaroni, Mark Savage, Ben Schaechter, Schrock, Trance Thompson, Mark Winkler and Bruce Vilanch. The work has played in more than 20 countries and toured theaters around the country.

The score includes such numbers as "Fight the Urge," "The Bliss of a Bris," "Muscle Addiction," "Nothing But the Radio On," "Members Only" and "Window to Window." Schrock directed with choreography by Jeffry Denman.
