Actors Alley of Los Angeles will have a go-around with the John Kander and Fred Ebb revue The World Goes 'Round, which officially opens on July 10 for a run through Sept. 6. Performances began on July 2. In a footnote for Kander & Ebb buffs, the production will feature revised lyrics for the Woman of the Year song "The Grass Is Always Greener," especially written by Ebb for the Alley show.
The cast is headed by Marcia Rodd, who created the role of Bobbi Michele in Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Also in the cast are Nora Linden, Joe Garcia, Alan Altshuld, Bobbi Stamm, Carol Keis, Karen Reed, Jonathan Malin and Laurie Allen Thomas. David Mingrino will director and choreograph.
Songs in the show come from such Kander and Ebb shows as Cabaret, Chicago, The Happy Time and 70, Girls, 70, as well as from the films Funny Lady and New York, New York.
