The 2007 nominees — 1812 Production's 1812 Outreach, Lantern Theater Company's Illumination, Philadelphia Theatre Company's My Philly Reality and Walnut Street Theatre's Adopt-A-School — are being recognized for their innovative theatrical and educational programs that enrich the greater Philadelphia community. The Actors Equity Award for Excellence includes a cash prize sponsored by the Harvey and Virginia Kimmel Arts Education Fund.
The Barrymore Awards are the only theatrical comprehensive awards program in the Philadelphia region. Margie Salvante, executive director for the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, said in a statement, "We are thrilled to have the support of Actor's Equity Association for an award that showcases theatre's impact on our region. The Barrymore Awards are all about celebrating the impact, diversity, and richness of our local theatre community. AEA's support only makes our purpose with the awards stronger.”
The Barrymore Awards will be held Oct. 1 in the Wannamaker Building's Crystal Tea Room, in Philadelphia, PA.
