News Actors' Fund's Auction of 1000 Stars Begins July 24 Interested in a voice lesson with Barbara Cook and Audra McDonald? Or a guitar lesson with Michael Cerveris? If so, the 7th Annual Auction of 1000 Stars — the on-line auction presented by The Actors' Fund of America that begins July 24 — is for you.

Auction items are listed at www.auctionof1000stars.com, and bidders will have two weeks to bid on the unique mix of "celebrity experiences" and memorabilia. All proceeds benefit the programs and services of the Actors’ Fund.

Among the many items up for bid are walk-on roles in The Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Chicago, Mamma Mia! and Rent; a VIP tour of the “One Life to Live” studios; a chance to watch a taping of “MAD TV” or attend a VIP screening of the new Matt Dillon-Lili Taylor film “Factotum.”

Interested theatre fans can also bid on a chance to dine with theatre couple Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson, take voice lessons with Tony winners Barbara Cook and Audra McDonald, have a private Shakespeare lesson with Lynn Redgrave or take a guitar lesson given by Sweeney Todd’s Michael Cerveris.

New items will be added to the auction each day.

The Actors' Fund, which was founded in 1882, is a non-profit organization that provides for the social welfare of all entertainment professionals. Some of the many programs The Actors' Fund provides include a nursing home and assisted living care facility; senior and disabled programs; mental health services; chemical dependency services; entertainment industry assistance programs; the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative; the AIDS Initiative; and supportive housing on both coasts.
