Udine joins current Phantom leading man, Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis, who takes on the starring role. Also joining the cast is Linda Balgord (Passion, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard), who takes over as Madame Giry, a role she played in the new national tour.
Lewis extended his contract with Phantom through Feb. 7, 2015.
The cast of Phantom also includes Jeremy Hays (Raoul), Laird Mackintosh (Monsieur André), Tim Jerome (Monsieur Firmin), Michele McConnell (Carlotta), Christian Šebek (Piangi), Kara Klein (Meg Giry) and Kaley Ann Voorhees (Christine alternate).
The Phantom of the Opera is produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group, has music by Lloyd Webber and is directed by Harold Prince. Lyrics are by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and the book is by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber.
It has production design by the late Maria Björnson, lighting by Andrew Bridge and sound design by Mick Potter with original sound by Martin Levan. Musical staging and choreography are by Gillian Lynne. Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Lloyd Webber.
The Max Martin musical features a number of his most beloved songs, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Roar,” “Since U Been Gone,” “It’s My Life,” “I Want It That Way,” “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” and more.
