An all-African-American cast will tackle August Strindberg's classic battle-of-the-sexes drama The Father on June 8 at the McCadden Place Theatre in Hollywood. Produced by the August Strindberg Society of Los Angeles, the play runs through July 16. The Strindberg Society's artistic director, David Patch, directs.
The Society performed this version of The Father in a concert reading production at the Strindberg Festival in Sweden in 1998, winning much critical acclaim. Felton repeats his performance in this fully staged production. Others in the cast are Peggy A. Blow, Mark Conley, Karen Ffolkes, Masequa Myers, Hendry G. Sanders, Dig Wayne and Eric Whitemore.
Since its inception in 1984, the Society has mounted many staged readings of Strindberg plays, beginning with Miss Julie. It has also held many a "Sunday Brunch With Strindberg."
McCadden Place Theatre is located at 1157 N. McCadden Place in Hollywood. For tickets and information call (323) 469-3786.
