News After Winning a Dora Award, Assassins Will Get a Second Shot in Toronto in 2011
The 2010 Dora Award-winning production of Assassins, the Stephen Sondheim musical rumination on celebrity, obsession and attempts to murder U.S. presidents, will return to Toronto.

Birdland Theatre with Talk Is Free Theatre will bring the Dora winner for Outstanding Production of a Musical back to The Theatre Centre Jan. 6-23, 2011.

Adam Brazier directs the conceptual musical that places assassins (or would-be assassins) of American presidents in a theatrical landscape. The libretto is by Weidman, with music and lyrics by Sondheim.

Expect the return of Dora-nominated Paul McQuillan as John Wilkes Booth and Trish Lindstrom as Squeaky Fromme. Joining original cast members Graham Abbey, Jay Davis, Martin Julien, Steve Ross, Christopher Stanton, Jonathan Tan, Alicia Toner and Geoffrey Tyler are Alex Fiddes and Lisa Horner.

Rounding out the artistic team are musical director Reza Jacobs, set designer Beth Kates and lighting designer Gareth Crew.

Assassins tickets are now on sale through Arts Box Office by phone at (416) 504-7529 or online at *
