PlayBlog Agata Stanford to Sign Copies of "The Broadway Murders" Actress-turned-author Agata Stanford will discuss and sign copies of her new book, “The Broadway Murders,” in which a murder is solved by legendary wit, drama critic and poet Dorothy Parker and her Algonquin Round Table cohort, Robert Benchley.

The discussion and signing will take place Aug. 14 at 10 AM at Borders in Saratoga Springs.

According to press notes, “Whether you love Theatre, Manhattan, or a having a good laugh, you will not want to miss out on reading this first novel in Agata’s new series, Dorothy Parker Mysteries. As you read 'The Broadway Murders,' you will find yourself stepping out of your Silver Ghost Rolls to go on a scavenger hunt with the Marx Brothers, do the rounds of speakeasies, attend Broadway’s opening nights, dance at the Waldorf, and then pull up your chair at the Algonquin Hotel’s famous daily luncheon and enjoy a tossed salad of bon mots, all while sleuthing about with Parker and her partner in crime-solving, Robert Benchley, for clues to find a killer.”

In addition to the Marx Brothers, other theatre personalities from the 1920s and 30s who appear in the book include drama critic Alexander Wollcott and playwrights and authors Robert Sherwood, George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber (all of whom were regulars at the Round Table with Parker and Benchley), the Barrymore family, Tallulah Bankhead, Fanny Brice and George Gershwin.
