The Cabaret Convention will be held on the final night of the Greenwich Theatre's two-week series, Musical Voices 2004. More than a dozen international vocalists will take to the stage at 7 PM, including original Nine star Karen Akers, soprano Anna Bergman as well as Graham Bickley, Natalie Douglas, Simon Green, Jeff Harnar, Melanie Marshall, Sharon McNight, Sidney Myer, Georga Osborne, Sian Phillips, Clive Rowe and Craig Rubano. Produced by Mabel Mercer Foundation Executive Director Donald Smith, ticket prices will be kept to a minimum (£5-£20) to allow a wider audience. In a statement Smith said, "We hope that our evening at The Greenwich on February 22nd will inaugurate an annual series of cabaret convention concerts for all those in Great Britain who love the classic popular songbook and those singers whose talent and art keep it alive and accessible." For more than a decade, the Mercer Foundation has presented a yearly week-long convention at Manhattan's Town Hall.

The London Cabaret Convention comes at the very end of the second annual Musical Voices program. That series celebrates "the singing voice in all its forms" and "the art of the musical theatre performer." Musical Voices is set to begin Feb. 10 and will include an evening of Gilbert and Sullivan and staged readings of three new musicals.
