Scheduled for a Jan. 11, 2011, release from Yellow Sound Label/Warner Brothers, "First Things Last" will feature Cumming (Cabaret), Jackson (Xanadu) and Rubin-Vega (Rent), as well as Bryce Ryness (Hair), Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls, Ricki Lake ("Hairspray"), Lea DeLaria (On the Town), Meow Meow and Alexandra Silber (Carousel).

West End performers represented on the album include Aneurin Barnard (Spring Awakening), Julie Atherton (Avenue Q), Paul Spicer (Witches of Eastwick), Emma Williams (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) and Hannah Waddingham (Spamalot).

Horne told Playbill.com that the album is a collection of songs from musicals and other works intended for the stage. Many of the performers who appear on the 15-track album will interpret songs that Horne penned expressly for them. "The songs on the album have grown out of the last decade of my collaboration with these performers and the songs are essentially 'sewn onto them,'" he said.

A rhythm section and string quartet back most of the material, which ranges in style from country and pop, to inspirations taken from Jerome Kern and Jacques Brel.

Horne has also created a unique fundraising concept for the album thanks to KickStatrer.com. Theatre-lovers can click here to donate or pre-order the album for only $5. Another $10 pre-order donation will include a bonus track and will be delivered prior to the official release. Various contribution packages that range from $100 to $5,000 also include a personalized note from Horne, or a custom song from Horne, unpublished sheet music, tickets to one of Horne's upcoming concerts, and the chance to attend a closed rehearsal with all the artists.  Donations close Nov. 4.

"If anyone wants to donate $5,000 I'd fly myself to them to perform a private concert!" Horne told Playbill. "I'm paying all the artists and the studio time. None of this is being done as a favor. I want it done right."

Lance Horne provided vocal arrangements for Little Women on Broadway. He has penned songs for Gypsy of the Year, the Actors Fund benefits and contributed to the Off-Broadway song-cycle Songs From an Unmade Bed (for which Mark Campbell penned lyrics) as well as Three Lost Chords and The $trip. He co-produced Alan Cumming's album "I Bought a Blue Car Today." His work has been presented at Joe's Pub, New York Theatre Workshop, The Juilliard School and Lincoln Center. Horne is a graduate of the Juilliard School.

Horne will also appear during Lincoln Center's American Songbook series Jan. 14, 2011, at 8:30 and 10:30 PM. The evening will feature special guest performances by Alan Cumming and Cheyenne Jackson under the direction of Daisy Prince.
