News ALAP Holds 4th Annual Playwrights Meet-n-Greet Expo In L.A., Sept. 14 LOS ANGELES -- ALAP (Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights) will hold its fourth Playwrights Expo on Mon. Sept. 14 at 7 PM at the Friendship Auditorium.

LOS ANGELES -- ALAP (Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights) will hold its fourth Playwrights Expo on Mon. Sept. 14 at 7 PM at the Friendship Auditorium.

The networking event gives playwrights the opportunity to meet and talk directly with representatives of dozens of local and national theatres.

ALAP will present its C. Bernard Jackson Award as part of the Expo. This award, named for its first recipient, the late founder of the Inner City Cultural Center, recognizes individuals and organizations which nurture, develop and support local playwrights. Past winners have included Highways and The Audrey Skirball Kenis Theatre Projects.

This year's winner is FirstStage, an organization dedicated to the devlopment of new works for the stage. In the past 15 years FirstStage has produced more than 1700 readings of new plays.

ALAP is an all-volunteer support and service organization dedicated to addressing the professional needs of L.A.'s playwriting community. It was founded in 1992 and has nearly 200 active members. The Friendshiop Auditorium is at 3201 Riverside Drive. Admission to the event is free. Call (213) 957-4752 for more information.
