Classic Arts News Alexander Kerr Replaces Henning Kraggerud as Violin Soloist with Indianapolis Symphony Oct. 5-7 Is it something with the moon?
In the third such announcement to appear within 24 hours, the Indianapolis Symphony revealed yesterday that violinist Henning Kraggerud has cancelled his appearances with the orchestra October 5-7 due to the expected birth of his child that weekend.

(It was also disclosed yesterday that, due to the impending arrival of their new babies, conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya has withdrawn from his dates this week with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl and that Kansas City Symphony music director Michael Stern would miss this weekend's season-opening concerts in that city.)

Replacing Kraggerud in Indianapolis will be Alexander Kerr, who in June left the concertmaster's chair at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam to take an endowed professorship at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and pursue a career as solost and chamber musician.

The program, to be conducted by Kwam_ Ryan in his ISO debut, includes Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony and (on October 6 and 7) John Corigliano's Mannheim Rocket.

Information on and tickets for Indianapolis Symphony performances can be found at www.IndianapolisSymphony.org.
