The weekend of concerts will kick off Oct. 15 with Broadway Melody Makers. Newly announced for the 8 PM concert, which will feature hummable Broadway tunes written by Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, Jule Styne and Cy Coleman, are Tony winners Alice Ripley and Michael Cerveris. They will join the previously reported Mary Testa, Tom Wopat and Nellie McKay. Scott Coulter will direct with musical direction by Ross Patterson. Tony Award winner Betty Buckley will take centerstage Oct. 16 at 8 PM for a solo concert. Additional details about the evening with the star of Cats and Sunset Boulevard will be announced at a later time.
The series will conclude Oct. 17 at 3 PM with Broadway Originals. Nearly 20 artists — including Seesaw's Michele Lee (who will also direct), Christiane Noll (Ragtime), Stephanie D'Abruzzo and John Tartaglia (Avenue Q), Maureen Silliman (Shenandoah) and Jo Sullivan Loesser (The Most Happy Fella) — will come together to revisit the songs that they made famous on the Broadway stage.
Tickets are $55 and $50 and are available through Ticketmaster.com, (212) 307-4100 or the Town Hall Box Office (123 West 43rd Street). For more information visit www.the-townhall-nyc.org.
