Tony Award winner Alice Ripley will star in the Off-Broadway premiere of The Pink Unicorn, a site-specific solo drama by playwright Elise Forier Edie.

Ripley (Next to Normal, Side Show) will play a Christian widow living in a conservative Texas town whose 14-year-old daughter announces that she is “gender queer,” and intends to start a Gay and Straight Alliance in her high school.

Amy Jones will direct the production that will begin previews May 9 at the Episcopal Actors’ Guild ahead of a May 15 opening night.

Out of the Box Theatrics, which utilizes non-traditional spaces to create site-specific theatre, produces the limited Off-Broadway engagement which runs through May 25.

Edie, a playwright and actor, has performed the solo play across the U.S., including a previous New York appearance at the United Solo Festival.
