Cleveland Public Theatre in Ohio has announced its 2016-17 season; included in the slate is 44 Plays For 44 Presidents, short sketches chronicling the lives of past American Presidents, performed by an all-female cast.

The show, scheduled to run ahead of the election October 6-29, is a follow-up to the 2002 43 Plays For 43 Presidents. It is written by Andy Bayiates, Sean Benjamin, Genevra Gallo-Bayiates, Chloe Johnston and Karen Weinberg and co-directed by Dan Kilbane and Caitlin Lewins.

CPT’s new season is titled Attention: Tension: Intention. “Attentiveness, the act of being present in the moment, takes effort and sometimes courage. When we look and see, it is often not pleasant at first. This tension, this friction, is the fuel that makes theatre so exciting and interesting – conflict and dynamism wakes us up to this present life and leads us to act with clear intention,” states executive artistic director Raymond Bobgan in an online statement.

The season line-up also includes Robert O’Hara’s Barbecue, which recently played Off-Broadway; and I Call My Brothers, a new work by Swedish playwright Jonas Hassen Khemiri, translated by Rachel Willson-Broyles, about a young Arab-American who runs errands in New York City in the wake of a car bombing.
