News Altar Boyz, Catechism and Caveman Complete Long Wharf Summer Schedule New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre will present Altar Boyz, Defending the Caveman and the return of Late Nite Catechism during its 2008 summer season.

The touring productions of Altar Boyz and Defending the Caveman will take to the main-stage, while last season's popular comedy Late Nite Catechism makes a return engagement on Long Wharf's Stage II.

Altar Boyz – with a book by Kevin Del Aguila, music and lyrics by Michael Patrick Walker and Gary Adler – runs July 8-Sept. 13. The Off-Broadway and international hit follows "5 small-town boys – Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham – trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. Their pious pop act, including lyrics like 'Girl You Make Me Wanna Wait' and 'Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone,' worked wonders on the Ohio bingo-hall-and-pancake breakfast circuit. But when fate brings them to New York, will the boyz take a bite out of the forbidden apple?"

Late Nite Catechism, by Vicki Quade and Maripat Donovan, arrives on Stage II July 24-Sept. 13. "Part catechism class, part improv, Late Nite Catechism is hysterical entertainment for any Catholic, non-practicing Catholic, ex-Catholic, Catholic under consideration, or even Catholic by association!"

The last offering will be Rob Becker's Defending the Caveman, playing Sept. 17-Oct 12. Broadway's longest-running solo play is described as "a hilariously insightful play about the ways men and women relate, Caveman makes us laugh at ourselves about all the ways men and women fight, laugh and love."
