Lincoln Center's American Songbook series — which presented acclaimed concerts last season by Betty Buckley and Judy Kuhn — will offer a trio of concerts in November entitled "Perspectives."
"Perspectives" will feature a weekend of artists offering their own take on the American popular song from Nov. 14-16. Renowned cabaret singer Mary Cleere Haran will join another singer to be announced shortly for an evening of conversation, musical reminiscences and song. This evening will be held at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at 8 PM. Tickets are priced at $45.
Composer/conductor Rob Kapilow will present a program entitled "What Makes Leonard Bernstein Great?" at the Kaplan Penthouse. Kapilow, who created the series "What Makes It Great?," which shows audiences how to listen to and better understand classical music, will offer shows at 8 PM ($45) and 10 PM ($30).
Singer-actress La Chanze, who has starred on Broadway in Once On This Island, Ragtime and Company, will perform a solo concert this November as well. Her evening of song will also be presented at the intimate Kaplan Penthouse at 8 PM ($45) and 10 PM ($30).
Performance dates are still being finalized, and PBOL will report which performer will perform on which November night as soon as it is decided. The Stanley H. As previously announced, the American Songbook seasons begins with Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, who will perform in concert on Oct. 11 and 12 at the John Jay College Theatre (899 10th Avenue). Show time is 8 PM.
