The American Theatre Wing, headed up by president Roy A. Somlyo and chairman Isabelle Stevenson, will distribute $140,000 in grants and scholarships at its 45th Annual Grants & Scholarships Awards luncheon, Dec. 5.

The event will take place at noon in Sardi's Eugenia Room in midtown Manhattan.

Among the 48 non-profit organizations receiving money this year will be Abington Theatre Company, The Acting Company, AMAS Musical Theatre, Atlantic Theatre Company, Barrow Group, Cap 21, Cherry Lane Alternative, City Center's Encores! Series, Classic Stage Company, The Culture Project, The Directors Company, The Drama League, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Foundry Theatre, Inc., HB Playwright's Foundation, Intar Hispanic American Art Center, The Irish Repertory Theatre, Jean Cocteau Repertory, La MaMa E.T.C., Lincoln Center Theater, MCC (Manhattan Class Company), Manhattan Theatre Club, Melting Pot Theatre Company, Mint Theatre Company, Musical Theatre Works, New Dramatists, New Federal Theatre, The New Group, New York Theatre Workshop, Pan Asian Repertory, The Paper Bag Players, Playwrights Horizons, Primary Stages, Public Theatre, Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre Company, Roundabout Theatre Company, Second Stage Theatre, Signature Theatre Company, Talking Band, Thalia Spanish Theatre, Inc., Theatre by the Blind, Theatre For A New Audience, TheatreWorks/USA, Vineyard Theatre, Weissberger Theater Group, Women's Project & Productions, WPA Theatre and The York Theatre Company.

The awards were decided upon by this year's committee, which included Theodore Chapin, Jay Harris, Shirley Herz, Jeffrey Eric Jenkins, Douglas Leeds, Jo Sullivan Loesser, Enid Nemy, Michael Price, Lloyd Richards, Isabelle Stevenson and Roy A. Somlyo.
