News Amy Irving Is Celadine at George Street Playhouse Beginning Nov. 16 Stage and screen star Amy Irving heads the cast of Celadine, the Charles Evered drama that begins its limited run at New Jersey's George Street Playhouse Nov. 16.

Irving stars in the title role of Evered's opus, which concerns a woman in 1600's England who is a playwright but also a spy. The company of this historical romance also includes Leslie Lyles (as Mary), Matt Pepper (as Elliot), Michael Countryman (as Rowley) and Rob Eigenbrod (as Jeffrey). George Street artistic director David Saint helms the production, which plays the New Jersey theatre through Dec. 12.

The creative team comprises Michael Anania (set design), David Murin (costume design), Joe Saint (lighting design) and Christopher J. Bailey (sound design).

On Broadway Amy Irving has appeared in Amadeus, Heartbreak House, Broken Glass and Three Sisters. She received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in "Yentl," and her other screen credits include "Crossing Delancey," "A Show of Force," "I'm Not Rappaport," "Deconstructing Harry" and "Traffic."

Leslie Lyles' Broadway credits include Night and Day, Hide and Seek, The Real Thing, Garden District and Ah, Wilderness!. Matt Pepper was recently seen Off-Broadway in David Folwell's comedy Boise. Also a playwright, Pepper's works include The Bar Play (with Folwell) and St. Crispin's Day. Michael Countryman has appeared on Broadway in Night Must Fall, Holiday, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Face Value and A Few Good Men. Among his numerous Off-Broadway credits are Nine Armenians, A Flea in Her Ear, All in the Timing, The Common Pursuit, Out! and The Clearing. Rob Eigenbrod's regional theatre credits include Pure Thoughts and Dirty Loving, Romeo and Juliet and The Credeaux Canvas.
