News   Amy Spanger and Allison Case Among New Set of Matilda Broadway Leads
Broadway's Matilda The Musical is bringing in a new set of leads Sept. 8 to support the ongoing Christopher Sieber as Miss Trunchbull, including Broadway favorites Amy Spanger as Mrs. Wormwood and Allison Case as Miss Honey.

Also joining the cast are Rick Holmes as Mr. Wormwood and Natalie Venetia Belcon, who returns to the cast as Mrs. Phelps. They will be welcomed by Mattea Conforti, Rileigh McDonald, Mimi Ryder and Alexandra Vlachos, the four girls who will continue sharing the title role.

This is Belcon's third stint as Mrs. Phelps. Other Broadway credits include creating the role of Gary Coleman in the original cast of Avenue Q, and replacing as Joanne in the original run of Rent.

Case originated the role of Crissy in the Tony Award-winning revival of Hair (Off-Broadway, Broadway, West End), and appeared in Broadway productions of Hands on a Hardbody and Mamma Mia! (Sophie).

Holmes joins the cast of Matilda after completing a recent run in the original cast of The Visit. Other Broadway credits include Peter and the Starcatcher, Spamalot, Cabaret, Major Barbara and Deep Blue Sea.

Spanger appeared in the original Broadway casts of Elf, Rock of Ages (original Sherrie), The Wedding Singer (original Holly, Drama Desk nomination), the 1999 Kiss Me, Kate revival (original Lois Lane).

Matilda The Musical, which opened April 11, 2013, is on track to play its 1,000th Broadway performance shortly after the new crew arrives.
