A production spokesperson said the tour will kick off in fall 2016. Additional information including specific dates and cities and cast will be announced at a later date.
Director/choreographer Christopher Wheeldon's staging of the musical opened on Broadway April 12 at the Palace Theatre and has so far been nominated for 12 Drama Desk Awards, 8 Outer Critics Circle Awards and 3 Drama League Awards including Outstanding Musical.
The show is an adaptation of the classic 1951 movie musical about an American artist who falls in love with a beautiful French ballerina in post-World War II Paris.
Like the film, the show uses songs from the George and Ira Gershwin songbook, with a new libretto by Craig Lucas. Extended ballet sequences are set to George Gershwin's orchestral music.
