News André De Shields and Alison Fraser to Read The Unbleached American May 9 Tony Award nominees Andre De Shields and Alison Frasier will co-star in a staged reading of Michael Aman's play The Unbleached American May 9 on Theater Row.

The Working Theater presents the 7 PM reading of the play under the direction of Alfred Preisser.

De Shields earned a Tony nomination for Prymate and recently starred in the world premiere of The Gospel According to James. Fraser received a Tony nomination for The Secret Garden. She currently appears Off-Broadway in The School for Lies.

The Unbleached American is "based on the life of Ernest Hogan, an African-American who made a small fortune in the 1900s writing the first 'coon song.'"
