Andrea McArdle, Broadway’s original Annie star and co-star of Starlight Express, is playing Reno Sweeney in Gateway Playhouse's revival of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, opening at the theatre in Bellport, NY on May 20.
Co-starring Sally Struthers as as Evangeline Harcourt; and TV’s Survivor contestant Josh Canfield as Billy Crocker, the production is scheduled to run through June 4.
The 1934 musical is set aboard a Europe-bound luxury liner and features Porter classics “You’re the Top,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow,” “It’s De-Lovely,” “I Get a Kick Out of You” and the title song. Jayme McDaniel directs and Jason Wise did choreography.
In addition to Annie, McArdle has appeared in the national touring companies of Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, Starlight Express, Meet Me In St. Louis, and The Wizard of Oz. Struthers is known for her role as Gloria Stivic on TV's All in the Family, for which she won two Emmy awards, and as Babette on The Gilmore Girls.
