News Andrew Lippa to Host NAMT's Songwriters Showcase Oct. 28 Tony Award-nominated Addams Family composer Andrew Lippa will host the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's Oct. 28 Songwriters Showcase at New World Stages.

Lippa, whose musicals A Little Princess and Jerry Christmas were presented at NAMT's Festival of New Musicals in previous seasons, will introduce audiences to a new generation of theatre songwriters during the free 1:30 PM concert.

Audiences can expect to hear selections from Blood Magic by Ian Williams and Aaron Jafferis; February House by Gabriel Kahane and Seth Bockley; Love Kills by Kyle Jarrow; Next Thing You Know by Joshua Salzman and Ryan Cunningham; Post Office by Melissa James Gibson and Michael Friedman; Saint Ex by Jenny Geiring and Sean Barry; and Snow by Sean Hartley.

Performers will be announced shortly.

February House is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Public Theater in 2012; while Saint Ex was recently seen at the Weston Playhouse. Next Thing You Know was staged by the CAP21 Theatre Company in June 2011, and Love Kills was part of the 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Presented Oct. 27-28 at New World Stages, the 23rd annual Festival of New Musicals will highlight eight new musicals currently in development. The weekend is attended by industry members from across the country and New York. Kerry Butler, Kate Shindle, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Andrew Durand will be featured in the NAMT productions. Betsy King Militello was named the new executive director of NAMT in July.
