News Andricain, Chan, Harding, Williams and More Set for New Musical Take Me America Casting has been announced for Take Me America — The Musical, which will be presented at the Workshop Theatre beginning July 16.

The six-performance run (through Aug. 3) is part of the eighth annual Midtown International Theatre Festival and will be directed by Gregg Wiggans. The cast will feature Ana Andricain (Marie Christie, Beauty and the Beast); Eric Chan (Flower Drum Song, Miss Saigon, Shogun the Musical, Anything Goes); Michelle Liu Coughlin; Jan Leslie Harding (The Green Bird); Mike Mitchell, Jr.; Ellen Mittenthal; Natasha Tabandera (Bombay Dreams, Mamma Mia!, Miss Saigon); and Ernest Williams.

Take Me America features a book and lyrics by Bill Nabel and music by Bob Christianson. The musical, according to press notes, follows "nine refugees in their quest for asylum in the U.S. and the three INS agents who decide their fate. Do they stay or do they go? How would you decide? Get it wrong and you might as well sentence them to death.... or worse. Inspired by true stories from the asylum process; stories of life and death."

The creative team also includes Nate Patton (musical direction), Denny Paschall (choreography), Peter Flynn (dramaturg), Michael Piatkowski (costume design) and Amanda Woodward (lighting design).

Performance dates are July 16 at 10:30 PM, July 19 at 10:45 PM, July 22 at 9:30 PM, July 26 at 4:30 PM, July 30 at 10:30 PM and Aug. 3 at 4:15 PM.
