Also directed by Graff, the comedy will feature 2014 Tony nominee Andy Karl, Jennifer Simard, Angela Grovey, Eden Duncan-Smith, Sam Poon and Sadie Sink.
Kids In The Business, according to press notes, "follows the intense rivalry that develops between two eleven year old actresses, who have been flown out to Los Angeles to test for the same lead role in a new, musical television series."
"If you cross ‘Ruthless’ with ‘The War Of The Roses,’ you’re about ten percent of the way there," Graff said in a statement.
The play is inspired by the Oakwood furnished apartment complex in Studio City, CA, where hundreds of child actors and their mothers converge every year for pilot season. The play also features original dance/pop songs by Ali Dee Theodore.
Ex-child actor Todd Graff is the writer/director of the films "Camp," “Joyful Noise” and “Bandslam,” as well as director of the original workshop and world-premiere production of Jason Robert Brown’s musical 13 at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. He was Tony-nominated for his performance as Danny in the original production of Baby.
