In the Broadway thriller Voices in the Dark, the radio psychologist Lil, played by Judith Ivey, thinks she has problems, but at least her harasser is actually another person. Dr. William Jones, of the new Off Broadway drama, Angels Don't Dance has to deal with Angella, a shadow creature imbedded inside his patient, Jamie Creighton. As he confronts her secrets, he must come to terms with his own.

Richard Brockman's psychological thriller runs Sept. 23-Oct. 6 at the Neighborhood Playhouse. Mirra Bank (filmdom's "Enormous Changes at the Last Minute," Colette in Love OOB) directs.

Soap opera veteran David Forsyth ("All My Children," "Another World") stars as Dr. Jones, with Nina Landey (the Brian Dennehy Death of a Salesman) as Jamie. Also in the cast are Meg Brogan, Brad Calcaterra, Denise Lute and Fidelma Murphy.

Brockman, a practicing psychologist and the author of "A Map of the Mind," has followed his Angels through a production in the Ensemble Studio Theatre's 1996 Octoberfest and development at the 42nd Street Workshop and the Cherry Lane Theatre. Other plays include Good Behavior, also directed by Bank (at the Harold Clurman Theatre) and starring Mary McDonnell and Macauley Culkin, Change of Heart and Little Caesar.

Designing Angels are Deborah Constantine (lighting), Manuel Lutgenhorst (sets), Isabel Rubio (costumes) and Cheryl Smith (sound). Dana Dierson is the stage manager.
