News Angels in America and "The Wire" Stars Headline Berkeley Rep's Honour Broadway veteran Kathleen Chalfant and HBO's "The Wire" actor John Doman will star in the upcoming Berkeley Repertory Theatre season closer, Joanna Murray Smith's Honour.

The California company's artistic director Tony Taccone (Continental Divide, bridge & tunnel) directs the production on the intimate Thrust Stage. The run begins May 20 and opens May 25 for a run through July 3.

The four-character Honour explores the ideas of fidelity and marriage when a young journalist enters the lives of a couple married for 32 years. The brutally honest work puts "marriage under the microscope in order to ask the hard questions: Is it right to sacrifice your individuality for the good of a spouse? Can fidelity work? What’s really behind a midlife crisis?," according to show materials.

The cast also features Emily Donahoe (The Hasty Heart, Wintertime) and Christa Scott-Reed (The Bald Soprano, Burn This).

Chalfant, who recently appeared Off-Broadway in Guantánamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom, was in the original casts of Wit, Angels in America: Millennium Approaches and Angels in America: Perestroika. She has also appeared on Broadway in M. Butterfly, Bloomer Girl, Dance With Me and Racing Demon as well as Off-Broadway in recent years in The Last Letter, Savannah Bay and Talking Heads — the latter two, at times, in the same evening.

Doman, known to television audiences as Deputy Commissioner William Rawls on "The Wire," last appeared Off-Broadway in Robbers. His other New York stage credits include True West, Critic's Choice, The Seagull, Wilderness of Mirrors, The Lady Swims Today, Fool for Love, Paths of Escape and Shut Up, Little Man. Australian playwright Murray-Smith's drama was first read at the New York Stage and Film Festival in 1995 by Meryl Streep, Sam Waterston and Kyra Sedgwick, and later played on Broadway and in London's West End. Other works include Bombshells, Atlanta, Flame, Love Child, Nightfall, Rapture, Redemption and the opera Love in the Age of Therapy.

The design team for Honour features Annie Smart (scenic), Lydia Tanji (costume), Alexander V. Nichols (lighting) with Andre Pleuss and Ben Sussman (sound). Cynthia Cahill will serves as stage manager.
