"It's drawn from my memories of growing up in war-torn Belfast," Hughes states about her Northern Ireland-set work. "Maybe telling my story will not only give people an insight about kids in war, but will inspire others to tell their story as well." Spanning the course of the years from the 1970's and 1980's, Hughes takes on over two dozen characters — including her younger self — in Belfast Blues which is billed as a "story of family, war, Jesus and Hollywood."

The work made its debut in 2003 presented in Los Angeles by The Virtual Theatre Project in association with the Black Dahlia Theatre as directed by Charles Haid The original staging earned Hughes an Ovation Award for Best Solo Performance and a L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award for Writing. The work has since played in Belfast, at London's Soho Theatre and Chicago's Mercury Theatre. The work also played in New York this past summer as part of the fourth annual "Women Center Stage" festival.

Kane is widely known as an actress, having appeared on Broadway in The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds and Ring Around the Bathtub as well as Off-Broadway in The Exonerated, The Vagina Monologues, Steve Martin's WASP and Family Week. Her quirky portrayals have been found in such films as "The Princess Bride" (opposite Billy Crystal's Miracle Max), "Scrooged" (as the Ghost of Christmas Present), "Joe Versus the Volcano" and "My Blue Heaven," as well as TV's "Taxi." Huston earned an Academy Award for her turn in "Prizzi's Honor," directed by her father John Huston. She currently appears in "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou." She is also known for her turns in "The Royal Tenenbaums," "The Addams Family," "Ever After," "Enemies: A Love Story," "The Grifters" and in the recent HBO original movie "Iron Jawed Angels." The Culture Project recently teamed with another Hollywood actress — Meryl Streep — to present their recent Off-Broadway production of Sarah Jones' solo bridge & tunnel. The work is slated to reach the Broadway stage this spring.
