The animated movie musical, which follows the adventures of the popular toys, is slated for release Nov. 4, 2016. Mike Mitchell ("Shrek Forever After") will direct.
"Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice," Mitchell told Variety. "She'll inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls."
Kendrick recently finished filming Rob Marshall's "Into the Woods," where she plays Cinderella. She also recently filmed the screen adaptation of Jason Robert Brown's musical The Last Five Years and has appeared in the "Twilight" film series, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," "Pitch Perfect" and "50/50".
Kendrick, who received an Oscar nomination for her role in "Up in the Air," was a Tony nominee at age 12 for her role as Dinah in High Society and gave a memorable performance of "The Ladies Who Lunch" in the movie "Camp."

The Troll dolls were first created in 1959 by Danish fisherman and woodcutter Thomas Dam as a present for his daughter.
