New Center Theatre Group artistic director Michael Ritchie announced his first and the California stage's 39th season.
The 2005-2006 Taper season lineup (subject to change) is as follows:
Neil Pepe directs the Atlantic Theater Company production of Glengarry Glen Ross Pulitzer winner Mamet's latest work — a courtroom farce that is underway in New York while Middle East peace talks occur nearby.
Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Schenkkan (The Kentucky Cycle) pens this new fantasy which finds the titular explorers on a time-and-space-bending journey to spread the America way to the world.
Sean Mathias (Indiscretions, The Elephant Man) directs Anton Chekhov's classic drama starring Annette Bening in the role of Madame Ranyevskaya who attempts to escape her woes in Paris at her Russian country estate only to discover trouble awaits her there.
Barry Edelstein (former Classic Stage Company head) directs Israeli playwright Joshua Sobol's new work translated by Sobol and himself for its stateside debut. Based on a true story, the drama is set on the final day of an imprisoned Austrian farmer in 1943's Berlin who refuses to wear a Nazi uniform and serve under Hitler's Third Reich.
Christopher Ashley (All Shook Up) directs Driving Miss Daisy Pulitzer winner Uhry's 1977-set drama about a high school drama teacher who takes a transfer student under his wing and casts him in the lead opposite a popular student actress.
Water & Power - (July 27-Sept. 17, 2006)
Richard Montoya and his Culture Clash troupe pen this Los Angeles tale of twin brothers.
