McDonald won her sixth Tony this year for playing Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill. According to Franklin, "It would be her job to bring it home. The question is whether she has that ability."
Franklin, who recently released the album "Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics," stated that she hoped to teach a master class at Carnegie Hall, and revealed that she would also like to record with Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder in the future.
As previously reported, among McDonald's upcoming projects is a stage musical adaptation of Corinna, Corinna, featuring a score by Alan Menken and a book by original screenwriter, director and producer Jessie Nelson.
